Off to the blog Frequently asked questionsThis tech blog documents private projects relating to Photovoltaics and battery technology, as well as retrofits on the BMW R1200GS / R1250GS (Adventure). From the PV system with a self-developed battery storage made from used vehicle batteries to the coding of the TFT display, cornering light and seat heating on the motorcycle - here I share my practical experience and guides.

Alexander Biringer's blog covers two main topics: photovoltaic and battery technology (including self-developed open-source solutions such as SmartmeterFaker) as well as retrofits on the BMW R1200GS / R1250GS (Adventure), such as TFT display, cornering light, seat heating and SOS emergency call.
Alexander Biringer is a technology and sports enthusiast who shares practical insights from projects he has already completed on this blog, so that others can also benefit from his experience. He is the owner and managing director of Biricon IT Services GmbH and an active member of the Lower Austria Civil Protection - Communications. Sport, nightskating, programming projects and highlights can be found in the section About me.
The blog documents a 40 kWp PV system (east, south, west; each Fronius Gen24 with its own battery) including emergency power function, battery storage made from used vehicle batteries, the optimisation of grid feed-in, and the PV emulators BYD Battery Emulator and Fronius Smartmeterfaker.
SmartmeterFaker is an open-source project for the intelligent control of PV feed-in and battery storage. The software processes smart meter data, PV forecasts, battery states and - optionally - dynamic electricity prices in order to distribute the available energy optimally over time.
These conversions and codings are described, among others:
All information is for research purposes and private use only. In the field of PV technology and up to 800 volts DC, only trained personnel may reproduce the published experiments, and in the field of vehicle technology too, appropriate expertise is required, as incorrect application can jeopardise the operating licence. Use is therefore at your own risk.
